Par 3 Course Layout
The Orchard Golf Academy Course layout is a trail through the woods. There are trees on every fairway, making it difficult for any golfer. In addition, I suggest you bring some bug spray. The paths are challenging to navigate, with hills and valleys. I felt like Little Red Riding Hood searching for the tee boxes in the woods.
Par 3 Course Conditions
I visited Riverside Golf Academy Course in Late July. It was wet, so the ball didn’t have any bounce. The tee boxes were poorly marked and missing large chunks of grass. The greens were soggy with little roll. Playtime was two hours, mostly because I was looking for my ball or the next hole.
The fairway was more like playing in your backyard if your backyard was full of weeds. Since it had rained the day before, there was no way to avoid puddles. After, my shoes and socks were soaked. On hole 6, unless you hit a perfect shot, you are guaranteed to lose your ball. At the end of 9 holes, I would have rather walked an 18-hole course and probably would have lost fewer balls.
Facilities & Amenities
Riverside Golf Academy’s practice facilities are awesome. It’s rare to find a golf course with two separate areas dedicated to chipping and putting green. Riverside offers even more than that, they have two large chip-and-pitch green with bunkers.
Riverside pulled out all the stops when It came to practicing. The driving range has 16 covered heated and 18 outdoor mats. No mention, there are indoor and outdoor putting.
To top it off, there are two full-swing simulators for year-round practice. Why brave a winter drive downtown to hit some balls when Riverside Golf Academy has it all? Say goodbye Back9 Golf!
Final Thoughts
Riverside Golf Academy is a fantastic spot for golfers looking to sharpen their short game and iron skills. The Par 3 course offers challenges that can be overwhelming, but the practice facility is excellent.
While I wouldn’t recommend Riverside Golf Academy Par 3 course, you will have a better experience at Coffin Golf Course and leave feeling more confident in your game. If you like some more great Hidden Gems in Indianapolis, and Indy Par 3 Courses, I’ll see you at Hole 19.
